Waterbeach facing potential triple threat of building works

Three major construction projects are planned in the coming years.

The village is due to see work on building the New Town, a new railway station, and a pipeline to the proposed Cambridge sewage works.

Concerns around huge disruption to village life were aired at a hearing this week looking at the plans to relocate the existing Cambridge Waste Water Treatment plant.

Anglian Water is hoping to get approval to build a new plant on land north of the A14 between Fen Ditton and Horningsea, known as Honey Hill.

Jane Williams, from Waterbeach Parish Council, said the cumulative impact on people in the village from the three construction projects needed to be considered.

She said they were facing a "mish mash" of different developers and project heads leading the various developments in the area.

The parish council would like to hear from people working on the projects about how the impact could be reduced.

Gavin Wicks, from Anglian Water, said there would be a "significant effect" on Waterbeach if all three of the construction projects took place at the same time, but said Anglian Water believed it had mitigation measures to help the impact.
