The British Dragonfly Society has recognised Wicken Fen as a hotspot for the insect.
The nature reserve has joined 23 other sites across the UK where dragonflies and damselflies thrive during the summer months.
Wicken Fen, near Ely, celebrated it’s 125th anniversary in May, and is a haven for these winged creatures descended from similar animals that lived alongside the dinosaurs.
Visitors will see new dragonfly display boards around the boardwalk, and on Sunday 30 June 2024, a Dragonfly Celebration Day is being held, with guided dragonfly walks, pond dipping sessions and boat trips.

"With a plethora of ponds and watercourses, Wicken Fen is an ideal place for them.
"The reserve is home to 222 of the UK’s 57 species.
"They are incredible creatures, nature’s most successful stalker, and people can get fantastic up-close experiences here."
