Wildlife boost for Cambridgeshire villages

£18,000 has been set aside for nature projects in Soham and Haverhill.

People in Burrough Green will get to fully renovate the village pond, while wildflowers are being planted alongside the allotments and cemetery in Swaffham Prior.

St Andrew’s Church in Soham has secured funding to install bird and bat boxes, bug hotels and hedgehog houses in the churchyard.

A similar scheme will be rolled out in Ashley.

In Mepal, more than 40 volunteers have planted 60 metres of species-rich hedgerow.
