Witness appeal following attempted burglary

POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary on Hauxton road, Cambridge on Friday (9 February).

Between 6pm and 6.40pm, five men were involved in the burglary, all with their faces covered.

Officers at the scene confronted the men, who became violent as they attempted to flee. Two officers were assaulted as four of the men fled the scene.

The officers received minor injuries as a result of the incident.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene and remains in custody at Parkside police station.

Detective Sergeant Graham Newton said: “We’re appealing to anyone who was on Hauxton Road at the time and noticed anything suspicious to get in touch as a matter of urgency. Any information you could provide, no matter how small, could be vital.

“We’re particularly keen to speak to anyone who has dash cam footage of Hauxton Road around the time of the offence.

“If you saw these four men or an Audi driving at speed, then coming forward with information could help us to bring them to justice.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting crime number: CF0078150218 or through Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or through their anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
