Witness appeal for two distraction burglaries

OFFICERS investigating two distraction burglaries in Huntingdonshire are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The first happened at about 6.30pm on Wednesday (3 January) at Ridgeway, Eynesbury.

Five or six men forced their way into an 81-year-old woman’s house after claiming to be from the council.

The men then stole cash and ripped the victim’s necklace from her as they left the property.

The second incident took place at about 3pm on Thursday (4 January) at The Avenue, Huntingdon.

Two men told the 71-year-old homeowner they were from the council before pushing past him and looking around his home.

Detective Sergeant Sasha Motley said: “These Cowardly attacks have set out to target vulnerable adults and have left the victims shaken, fearing for their safety.

“We are currently keeping an open mind as to whether the two offences are linked.”

Anyone with information should call Detective Sergeant Sasha Motley on 101 or visit www.contactcambspolice.uk/Report/. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
