Witness appeal to RTC at Newmarket

Police are appealing for witnesses to a road traffic collision that took place in Newmarket.

It happened on Saturday 4 November at 4pm on the A142 Fordham Road.

A brown Mercedes C180 car left the A14 eastbound carriageway exiting the road via the A142 slip road. At the top of the slip road the vehicle turned left onto the A142 Fordham Road when it then collided with a white Scania HGV lorry travelling in the opposite direction and then also colliding with a blue Renault Kangoo.

The two occupants of the Mercedes car were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The female driver, aged in her 70s was taken to hospital with a broken collar bone, broken left wrist, fractured ribs and some internal injuries. The male occupant, also aged in his 70s, sustained fractured ribs and a chest injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the manner of driving should call Bury St Edmunds Roads Policing on 101 quoting CAD 297 of Saturday 4 November.
